Aim: To learn about the rate that different materials decompose.
Hypothesis: I think that the Banana will rot because I've had an experience
Materials
banana
bread
Styrofoam
test tube
steps
get test tubes
get all the ingredients
put them in the test tube
leave it for a few weeks
and then see what one turned out the worst.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

ice cap melt/deforestation
What is deforestation?
Deforestation is when we chop down trees and we use them to make wooden things and paper
How does deforestation effect climate?
It effects climate because when we breathe out we breathe out carbon dioxide and the trees breathe it in and they breathe out oxygen.
Ice cap melt definition:
Ice cap melt is when all the ice melts
How does ice cap melt effect climate?
It effects it because if all the ice melts then animals that live in salty water will die because it will be less salty.

issues of climate change
Issues of Climate change.
Aim: To learn about the different activities that contribute to climate change
electricity is a form of energy used to power almost everything in our homes. A form of energy resulting from the existence of charged particles (such as electrons or protons), either statically as an accumulation of charge or dynamically as a current.

water cycle
last week we wrote down what we did in the water cycle so here is my work
Title: Water Cycle Experiment
Purpose: To learn how a water cycle works and to understand
Materials:
- 2 A4 ziplock bags
- Water
- Blue food colouring
- Vivid
- Double-sided tape
- Baking soda
Steps:
- Get 2 zip lock bags.
- And draw a drawing of preparation, condensation, and all the things that are in a water cycle.
- And then pour water into a zip lock bag.
- Then add blue food colouring (4 drops).
- Then get double-sided tape and put it on the front of the drawing.
- And stick it on a window for a few weeks.
Conclusion:.
Overall I think it is going to go well, I have not really looked at mine at all but I've looked at other peoples
work and it looks pretty good, some water has gone from some but not all.

inferring
here is an example of inferring:
inferring is when you read between the lines and you find two pieces of information from the text and you put them two together to create one piece of information.
here is an example:
1. Lily is a human
2. humans eat food
answer: Lily eats food because she is human

- tinfoil
- cellotape
- pizza box
- black plastic
- vivid
- ruler
- straw
- news paper
- glad wrap
- scissors
- chocolate biscuit
- marshmellow
Steps:
- assemble the pizza box
- cut a square in the lid of the pizza box
- put some tin foil on the inside of the lid
- place a piece of black plastic on the bottom inside the pizza box
- cellotape a piece of cellotape over the cut square on the lid
- wrap up tight some newspaper and make it into a square so it fits on the top of the black plastic on the bottom of the box
- get a straw to hold up the lid
- place your smores on a plate and put them into the pizza box oven to cook in the sun

ACIDIFICATION
DEFINITION: ACIDIFICATION IS WHEN THE ACTION OR PROCESS OF MAKING OR BECOMING ACIDIC
What is happening to the oceans?
- carbon is absorbing into the ocean
- animals are dying
What does this do to shellfish?
- if carbon keeps on going into the ocean and animals are dying they won't be able to make more shells.
HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACIDIFICATION OF OUR OCEANS?

science laboratory
Aim: to learn how to behave in a science laboratory
- pay attention
- act responsibly around
- do not run
- put your bag under your desk
- no food in the laboratory
- do not sniff or taste substances
things that we use in the laboratory
- Test tube - This is used for experiments using liquids. They have a bung that can be placed in the top. Test tubes sit in a test tube rack.
- Conical Flask - This is used for experiments with liquid up to 150 ml. The flask has a rubber bung for the top and the glass is heat proof.
- Glass Stirring rod - This is a 20cm glass rod used to stir and mix any liquids together.
- Test tube tongs - These are used to hold a hot test tube after an experiment.
- Spatula - This is for holding very small amounts of chemical powders.
- Funnel - used to channel liquids into a smaller container.
- Measuring Cylinder - This is used to measure liquids for experiments. The liquids will be poured into a beaker or test tube once measured out.

Science wind power
Instructions:
- Go to the measuring place and set up your wind gauge.
- Make sure everyone in your group is ready to start their roles.
- Record how many times it spins and record it in the table below.
- Count the number of spins in 15 seconds.
- Record it on your chart.

CONCLUSION:
lately, in science, we have been making a wind thing and you put it outside and we have to see how many spins it does in 15 seconds and on the field it did 0, on the old J block site we got 7, on the grass hill we got 6 and on the tennis court gate we got 2 they all took 15 seconds and I think the results were pretty good apart from the field 😐

why do we ask/answer questions?
we ask questions to understand whats going on with something, or if you want to know more about it. We also ask questions to make sure people understand what they are doing and all that stuff.
we answer questions because the people who ask the questions want to make sure that the people they ask the questions to understand what they are doing
we answer questions because the people who ask the questions want to make sure that the people they ask the questions to understand what they are doing
- they are in stories
- people ask you them
- you ask questions
I hope you understand how to do this and good luck.

Drama Haiku poem
Today in drama we have been doing haiku poems in this poem we had to use 5 syllables then 7 syllables then 5 again we had a group and my group was Milan, Maia and me here was my poem
sound of birds
flying high in the sky
what a lovely spring
I'm not sure if this is 575 but I tried and I like it.
I hope you can also do a haiku poem also and maybe comment it to me.
