Aim: To make a filtration plant using household materials.

Water Filtration Plant

What is filtration?


Filtration is separating solids from liquids by adding a medium through which only the liquid can pass. 

Examples are:

  1.  pool 
  2.  air
  3.  water
  4. oil

Materials

1.funnel
2.containor
3.filter paper
4.fine sand 
5.pebbles
6.scissors
7.dirty water
8.plastic bottle

Process - ( use verbs or doing words in each step )


Step 1

Cut the bottle..... just underneath the sticker

Step 2

Put the top half upside down ....... in the bottle

STEP 3

Add layers of .... sand and pebbles

STEP 4

Get 1 cup of dirty water ....... and pour in in the cup

STEP 5

Pour dirty water into ...... the bottle
Findings

Write a short sentence about the water every 1 minute. 
Include 'How much water has filtered through', 'How fast it is dripping through', and 'How clear the water is'.


Water colour: yellowish
Conclusion: in todays lesson we were trying to make clean water first you cut the bottle in half and then you put sand in there but not to the top and then you want to put pebbles in and then you put some dirty water in and you wait till all of the water has gone to the bottom of the container and then the water will be a tiny bit clean if you do it right.
